CHARTRES CATHEDRAL

This Cathedral is worth the 50 mile trip southwest of Paris!  Its stained glass work is a feast for the eyes and the soul.  UNESCO has designated it a World Heritage Site and art historians consider it to be one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture.

You will be able to attest personally of the stunning beauty of both the structure and its brilliant colored windows, both inside and out.  And, discover the labyrinth in the marble floor.

This place of worship dates back to the 1200s and is in pretty much the same condition since the 13th century!

Our plan is to visit on a Sunday, so depending on our timing, we could arrive during a service.  Visitors can tour the periphery during the service or even join the congregation.  If you like, you could go up one of the towers or even below to the Cathedral's crypts.  After the visit, you could stay in Chartres to explore its town or return to Paris for more Parisian delights.
